The Third Scientific Meeting of the Asia Pacific Alliance for Obesity and Sarcopenia Metabolism (APAOSM 2025) and the Inaugural Ceremony of the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Committee and the First Scientific Meeting were successfully held in Shenzhen, China, on 11-12 July, 2025.

The meeting was substantial and thematically focused, featuring nine academic sessions that included special-topic reports, keynote lectures, and interdisciplinary discussions. More than 50 distinguished experts from Mainland China, Hong Kong (China), Macao (China), and Taiwan (China), as well as from Singapore, India, Malaysia, Australia, and other countries and regions were invited to share insights on cutting‑edge topics such as innovations in metabolic and bariatric surgical techniques, applications of robotic‑assisted surgery, postoperative gastroesophageal reflux management, gut microbiota and chronic disease intervention, lipid metabolism regulation, diagnostic criteria for sarcopenia, obesity management in children and the elderly, nutritional and exercise‑based medical interventions, and the development of novel weight‑loss medications.

The discussions extended beyond clinical techniques to encompass metabolic mechanisms, lifestyle intervention pathways, precision nutrition strategies, advances in pharmacotherapy and microbiome‑based treatments, as well as policy standards and international guidelines and consensuses.

Several specialized sessions—including “From Open Surgery to the Metaverse: The Revolution in Bariatric Procedures,” “Robotic Gastric Cancer Surgery in Precision Treatment: Practical Insights,” “Redemption of Revision Surgery,” “Current Status of Nutritional Interventions for Obesity in Hong Kong,” and “Australia’s Multidisciplinary Postoperative Management Model”—sparked enthusiastic responses, offering attendees in‑depth academic exchanges and cross‑border experience sharing.

The meeting attracted over 300 on‑site participants and accumulated more than 50,000 online views. The high‑quality content and multidimensional discussions were highly praised by the attendees, providing a robust platform for advancing regional collaboration, interdisciplinary integration, and clinical translation.
